Buying Coins

Buying from A Hosker Haynes auction can be done in several ways, enabling our customers to bid in the way that suits them best.

Viewing

Auction catalogues will be available to view online approximately one month before an auction commences or you can register for a printed catalogue by contacting info@hoskerhaynes.com with your name and postal address. You can use the online or printed catalogue to browse auction lots and read accompanying descriptions. Whilst we endeavour to provide accurate descriptions and clear images, the lots on offer may also be viewed in person before the sale. Details regarding public viewing can be found in the current catalogue.

Registration

Registration is required before you are able to participate and place bids in one of our auctions, regardless of the bidding method you chose from below. Registration is easy and can be done by completing the online form. Once registered, you can log in to your account to search lots, add items to your wish list, place pre-bids and even bid live during the auction.

Online Pre-Bidding

Approximately one month before the auction commences an auction catalogue will be available to view online and open to pre-bidding. Clients can place pre-bids on our website from this time up to one hour before the auction commences. Once the auction has started, bids will be executed on your behalf up to the value of your maximum bid. Should multiple bids of the same amount be received for any lot, preference will be given to the first bid received.

Absentee Bids

If you are unable to place pre-bids via the website or bid live during the auction, you can submit bids in writing or email them to info@hoskerhaynes.com. Please use either a copy of the absentee bidding form (which can be found in the printed catalogue) or otherwise please clearly state:

  • Your name, address and contact number
  • Auction number and date of auction
  • Lot number(s)
  • Short description of the lot
  • The maximum amount you wish to bid in £GBP, complying with the increments set out in the terms and conditions (any bids placed outside of these increments will be rounded down to the nearest step).

Please note that absentee bids must be received by Hosker Haynes Auctioneers Limited by 18.00 GMT on the day before the auction.

Live Room Bidding

Our sales are held live and clients are invited to join us and participate in person for live room bidding. If you woud like to attend the live auction, just turn up on the day ensuring that you have two forms of identification. This will enable you to be registered immediately and then you wil be provided with a paddle number for bidding.

Live Online Bidding

Hosker Haynes Live, our online bidding portal, can be used on your computer, tablet or mobile phone to bid live from wherever you are, as if you were present in the auction room. Please note that prior registration is required before you can participate in online bidding.

Live Telephone Bidding

You have the option to place bids live via the telephone with one of our representatives who will be present in the auction room. If you would prefer to bid by telephone, please contact us at least three working days prior to the auction to make arrangements.

Live Online Bidding Via Third Party Platforms
